Alcohol and Other Drugs
Recovery is difficult, but not impossible, and becomes easier over time. We can help you take the necessary steps concerning your substance use, whether you want to reduce use, control use, or achieve sobriety.
Addiction and Dependency

Addiction and dependency can overlap, but each has different symptoms.
Addiction changes the chemistry in the brain, causing intense urges and impulses. Attempts to ease these impulses often reults in continued use, despite the risks and dangers to oneself or others. This type of use often leads to dependence.
Dependence occurs when a person develops tolerance of the substance. The best strategy is to slowly taper off the use of the substance, gradually reducing the level of use until abstinence is achieved. This will also minimise withdrawal symptoms.
